Delilah Loya, an 8-year-old cancer patient from Bakersfield, California, received an unforgettable surprise when the lead singer of the band Plain White T’s, Tom Higginson, showed up to sing her favorite song “Hey There Delilah” right in front of her.
Delilah has been battling cancer for four years and has undergone over 30 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. But that hasn’t stopped her from being a spunky, big personality, nature-loving girl who uses art to keep her spirits up.
When TikToker Isaiah Garza reached out to Delilah’s mother, Samantha Loya, hoping to make one of Delilah’s dreams come true, Loya was more than happy to oblige. And when she revealed that Delilah’s favorite song was “Hey There Delilah,” Garza knew just what to do.
When Tom Higginson came to sing the song in person, Delilah was shocked and couldn’t help but make a surprised face. The video of this special moment has already been viewed over 15 million times.
And that’s not all, Delilah’s second wish was also granted in December. She got to fulfill her dream of becoming a Los Angeles Rams cheerleader!
Despite all the challenges she’s faced, Delilah’s spirit remains undaunted. When asked how she and her family keep going, Delilah’s father simply said, “You know, we have to get up in the morning and let’s get this show on the road one more time, you know?”
Delilah’s story is truly inspiring and we wish her all the best in her continued fight against cancer.
